Melinda McCorkle - Legal Assistant

Melinda was born in Sacramento, California in 1954. After graduation from high school, she attended college at Chico State University in Chico, California, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 in Therapeutic Recreation Administration for Special Groups. She decided to settle down in Reno, Nevada after completing an internship here and loving the area during her final year of college.

She started her career working for Cavanaugh Enterprises as a Purchasing and Personnel Assistant which then led to an offer to work as an Office Manager for a small commercial interior design firm – Seibert Design, Inc. She supervised and conducted the activities of the Accounting, Payroll, and Purchasing departments for four years. Longing to return to the helping profession, she began going back to school and attended three years of nursing school at the University of Nevada, Reno while working part-time in medical records at Truckee Meadows Hospital (now West Hills). Soon she moved up to working full-time as a Medical Records Technician which also included responsibilities in Quality Assurance – compliance with OSHA requirements. She was at the hospital for a total of five years.

In 1988, she married Cliff McCorkle and joined him overseas as a missionary in Eastern Europe for seven years where she was blessed with three beautiful children; Noah, Sarah and Phebe. While staying at home and raising her children the last 18 years, she has maintained an at least part-time job with all her volunteer commitments. She has served as secretary on two different boards, one for 5 ½ years and one that she is still currently a part of, as well as serving as treasurer for six years on another board. Melinda has spent ten years volunteering at her church doing office duties, teaching and being missions’ secretary. She also volunteered for eight years with her children’s elementary and middle schools, serving individual teachers with administrative tasks, and setting up and managing the library at a charter school her son attended for two-years.
